Case, punctuation and accents don't matter.

Show me the line
Your mind takes on the colour of your everyday thoughts.

Marcus Aurelius, Meditations 5.16 (adapted from George Long's translation)

How it works

One line. Three passes.

  1. Pass 1/3 · Full text

Your mind takes on the colour of your everyday thoughts.

    See it.

Type your line with the whole thing on screen.

  2. Pass 2/3 · First letters

    Half blind.

Only the first letter of each word is left.

  3. Pass 3/3 · Nothing

    From memory.

Nothing on screen. Then the correct line appears.

Typing your line from memory, instead of just rereading it, uses retrieval practice, one of the best-supported ways to make words stick.

Goals work the same way: small steps you repeat, not a plan you drop by Wednesday.

Why it's different

  • You do. You don't watch.

A video ends and the line is gone. Here you type it yourself, pass by pass, until you can write it with nothing on screen.

  • Real Stoic lines.

Quotes are checked against public-domain translations and credited. No made-up Marcus.

  • A streak that forgives.

Missing a day doesn't undo your progress. Shields cover a missed day, and you get 48 hours to repair one, free.

  • Your words stay yours.

What you type stays on your phone, and in your phone's own backup if you use one. No account, no ads, and we never see your lines.

From the founder

Every time a motivational video found me on social media, I felt ready for about two minutes. Then it was gone. I couldn't even tell you what it said.

So I stopped hoping it would stick and started repeating it. One line, every day, typed from memory until I didn't need to look.

You know how, once someone asks you to count yellow cars, you see yellow cars everywhere the next day? You notice what you keep thinking about. Marcus Aurelius put it better: your mind takes on the colour of your everyday thoughts.

That's what xcsPower is for. 3 minutes a day to choose those thoughts on purpose, so the line is there when you actually need it.

We're finishing the app now. There's no date yet, so you get an email the day it's out.

Which phones?

iPhone and Android.

What does it cost?

The core practice is free forever, with no ads. Plus comes later at $39.99 a year. Founding members from this waitlist get their first month of Plus free.

What do you keep about me?

The waitlist keeps only your email and, if you answer it, your vibe. We use them for a welcome email and to tell you when xcsPower launches. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, or write to support@xcspower.com and we delete it.

Does the app see what I type?

No. Your lines and goals stay on your phone, and in your phone's own backup if you use one. We never see them.

Lock-In or Kawaii?

Three looks for the same practice. Lock-In is bold and direct. Kawaii is cute, in two versions: Soft (calm) and Fierce (unstoppable). You pick one and can switch any time.
